She used her face time with Trump to offend him about her terrible efforts to put friends and allies in Ume’s management position, two former White House officials told CNN. ..
But when Ginny Thomas contacted Trump’s aide in the presidential affairs office, her request went slowly, a former official said. She was afraid she might oppose her own criminal justice reform bill, which she enthusiastically opposed, and they allowed her to ask her for a roundtable discussion with Trump while the bill passed Congress. I delayed doing it.
These previously unreported details symbolize how Ginny Thomas tried to steer her way into Trump’s orbit during his presidency.
According to sources, Ginny Thomas has re-existed in his White House, leveraging existing connections with conservative figures and seeking intrusions with Trump’s staff. She wasn’t with Trump, but became part of a larger group of Republican activists I met at the White House almost every month, sources told CNN. Along the way, sources said she was a permanent obstruction to some of Trump’s aides who were tasked with managing her appeal.
“Help this great president stand firmly, Mark !!!” Thomas went to Meadows in favor of President Joe Biden on November 10, 2020, three days after the elections were summoned. You have sent a text message. She went on to say, “The majority know Biden, and the Left is trying to be the greatest robber in our history.”
The story is based on interviews with 14 sources familiar with Genie Thomas, her deal with the Trump White House, and her relationship with Thomas Justice. They were able to talk about the terms of anonymity and frankly explain how she tried to get involved in the Trump administration and how her efforts embraced the fringe election plot.
A source close to Thomas said of their marriage, “By modern standards, we accept the fact that two spouse professionals can lead unique and separate professional lives.” Sources said they weren’t obsessed with each other’s career days, stressing that Judge Thomas wasn’t interested in politics and “don’t like going back and forth.”
Rolodex “connector”
But from time to time, her networking style meant that she was “entering the business of others,” as one former Trump administration official said. One source close to Ginny Thomas said whether her efforts were “wise” to others (even those who shared her hard-line views), or they were. He admitted to CNN that he sometimes caused him to question whether he was damaging conservative movements.
According to one source, she frequently works with staff throughout the White House complex within the Trump White House, from top Westwing staff to public contacts who frequently seek her views on religious freedom initiatives. It was a “known amount” as a person to interact with.
“No one is saying,’Yes, we can ignore her call.’ But on the other hand, we think,’Drop everything, Ginny is online.’ I didn’t, “said a source. “She doesn’t know what she thought was so effective.”
She has never explicitly called her husband in a deal with the Trump administration, according to sources who spoke with CNN. But since everyone knew who he was, it’s unlikely she would need to call Judge Thomas’ role in the Supreme Court.
Former White House officials said Trump liked Thomas justice. That was a big reason he always gave Genie Thomas. Another former White House official said she had “name recognition” due to the relationship between her husband and her conservative group.
“Her husband is great justice,” Trump said. “And she is a good woman, and she loves our country.”
However, Ginny Thomas’ influence on Trump’s orbit was limited. According to one source, she didn’t have Trump’s personal cell phone number. She did not communicate with Trump on January 6, sources added.
Push for employment and dismissal
According to multiple sources and previous reports, she regularly urged Trump administration officials, and even Trump himself, to hire her right-wing allies and contacts. A former Trump administration official told CNN that staff would annotate Thomas’s spreadsheet with why her candidate was inadequate.
Multiple sources on the receiving side of such backgrounds have found that several candidates for whom Thomas asked the administration to perform background checks previously failed or were eventually offered lower-level jobs. I remembered that I declined. One candidate “did not believe that women should serve in the army,” a former official recalled.
Ironically, some of the other candidates posted something inappropriate for social media, given that Trump’s own social media presence was cluttered with controversial material.
“There’s a good reason they weren’t hired,” said a former Trump administration official.
Sources told CNN that at lunch Genie Thomas told Trump that he knew about the candidate for management, and Trump asked her to follow up with the staff.
During the meeting, Thomas complained that hostile “deep state” officials in the White House were preventing her nominated candidates from taking office. According to the two who attended the meeting, she directed some of her complaints directly to Trump’s aide in her room to set up MAGA followers in her agency post and White House. He accused her of crushing her efforts.
She even gave Trump a list of nominated hires during the meeting, sources told CNN.
For the first time, a former Trump Whitehouse official revealed to CNN that a top aide briefed Trump before the meeting with Thomas and informed him that there was a problem with the candidate she was pushing. One former official said he was worried that Trump would have been easily persuaded by Ginny Thomas’ suggestion if he had not been briefed in advance.
High court dispute
Originally from Nebraska, Ginni Thomas worked for former Omaha-based Republican Hal Daub in the 1980s, shortly before meeting Judge Thomas. Daub made friends with a famous couple and told CNN that he believed it was “ridiculous” to accuse them of acting unethically.
“They understand the relationship between the government and the (Supreme) Court,” Daub said. “He respects her right to her own voice, and he has worked diligently to avoid improper accusations … as one of the nine Supreme Court judges. Has a duty to serve and a duty not to refuse. ”
Mr. Daub added that Judge Thomas believes in numerous and dissenting opinions that he maintains a consistent philosophy of law on various politically prosecuted issues.
“I think it’s really good, solid proof. The pillow story doesn’t convince his view,” Daub said.
