Latest News and Rumors on iOS 15.5 (Updated April 7th)
- new function Allow limited third party payments Discovered in iOS 15.5 Beta, it shows that Apple is gradually becoming more tolerant of apps that allow it to spend money outside the App Store.
iOS 15.5 release date
Beta version of iOS 15.5 is currently available, but we don’t recommend trying this software right away. Beta is run to make sure the feature is available and bug free. This means that if you download the beta version to your iPhone, you may not really have a new one. Or worse, it can cause problems such as data loss on mobile phones. To safely sample the new version of the operating system, try the beta version only if you have a compatible spare device.
There is no news yet about the stable iOS 15.5 release (the release that the majority of us want to download). The beta version is currently available, but I think it will only take a month or two to arrive.
iOS 15.5: Previous features
The features of iOS 15.5 are still very new, so we don’t have a complete list yet. These are the highlights so far.
Apple Wallet Cash and Account Card
Within the Apple Wallet app (discovered by) MacRumors (Opens in a new tab)), A prominent Pay and Request buttons have been added to the Cash menu. These should make it easier to get and receive money from your contacts than through a bank app or withdraw cash directly at an ATM. We hope this will end the beta and provide a stable release for regular users.
Small wallet changes discovered by 9to5Mac (Opens in a new tab) It seems that the iTunes Pass, gift card funds or other money names that exist within Apple Services) have been renamed to Apple Account Cards. Since Apple has decided to split the various features into other apps, the iTunes app no longer exists, so it makes sense for Apple to rename this feature. If anything, it’s amazing that this hasn’t been done yet.
Apple classic
The iOS 15.5 code contains some references to Apple Classical, a long-rumored streaming app focused on orchestral music. The release of this app may not be dependent on iOS 15.5, but the fact that this app exists indicates that Apple may be preparing for an imminent launch.
Apple Sports Kit
Another rumored feature mentioned in the code, SportsKit, is an Apple software package that allows Siri to send live sports scores and data to a home screen widget for reading. It may be possible to do more, but it’s unknown at this time due to limited access to Apple’s framework. It seems that only specially licensed partners can use the features of SportsKit, perhaps official sports teams and franchises.
Payment by a third party of the app
This makes managing subscriptions via iPhone much easier. In beta, we’ve found developer permission to allow certain types of apps to direct users to payment systems outside the Apple ecosystem. This also includes a warning to the user that this is the case (see figure below). Apple hasn’t allowed this before, but it’s an option other than allowing users to set up and manage non-App Store payments through iOS apps, with legal action such as Apple vs. Epic Games. It seems that there wasn’t.
Notable WWDC 2022 It was announced on June 6th. This is where the next generation of full-generation iOS comes in. iOS 16, Debut, with the latest generation software such as iPad, Mac, Apple Watch. I’m not sure what Apple will introduce here, but I’m excited to hear what’s coming to Apple devices in the near future.
